Sound Tech – Holland UCC
General Description
The Sound Tech is responsible to set-up, run, and takedown the sound system for two weekends (or more) per month for HUCC’s 10:00 am Sunday service (and occasionally at extra gatherings also).
Note: Most often, setup is possible on Saturdays. There are times when Saturday is not possible, and the setup must be done early Sunday morning.
The person in this position functions easily in computer applications and possesses an understanding of and has experience in sound for public functions. This person must be dependable and needs to be able to work well with people. The person in this position will be most successful by having an attitude of flexibility in a social dynamic in which many volunteers interact with each other and in which last-minutes changes frequently occur.
This person is under the supervision of the Leadership Team of HUCC and works closely with the Sound/Video teams in terms of scheduling and communication.
Usually, set-up for the sound system takes about 75 minutes; take down usually 30 minutes. We need this person to show up and be ready for rehearsal on Sunday at 8:45 a.m. (Total time commitment for the weekend, then, is usually around 4 ½ to 5 hours).
This position pays $90.00 per scheduled weekend.
Specifically:
- Engage in a period of training in Midtown’s tech systems and in the methods and systems of HUCC equipment usage, set-up, and storage.
- In preparation for each scheduled Sunday’s gathering, set-up and test the equipment (music stands, cords and microphones, instruments plug-ins, and monitor speakers.)
- On each scheduled weekend, arrive at 8:45 a.m. to sound test the musicians and set sound levels.
- Manage and monitors the sound levels during the service.
- Pack up all equipment and insure it is stored downstairs.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with the Sound Team.
- This person is reviewed for performance by the Sound Team and those reviews are submitted to the Leadership Team.
